Introduction

In May 2023, Saga Fiction approached us with a challenge: they were struggling to communicate effectively with their target audience. They lacked a clear business structure, which led to issues such as an undefined brand identity, inconsistent messaging, low brand awareness, and inefficient servicing of both authors and readers.

Objective

Our goal was to help the founders of Saga Fiction develop a distinctive brand identity and structure that would resonate with their audience and create a stronger connection between the brand and its community.

Research Approach

We conducted primary research, including:

  • Author Interviews: Understanding their experiences and expectations.
  • Customer Surveys: Identifying gaps in brand perception and communication.

Insights and Findings

The research revealed a key insight: while the founders had successfully cultivated trust and belonging within their community, the brand itself lacked recognition. Customers were unaware of the range of services offered and felt more connected to the founders than the brand.

Our Solution

Based on these findings, we proposed a transformative strategy: a new name, a fresh identity, and a revamped structure to align the brand with its target audience. Thus, The Bombay Circle Press was born.

The name is a tribute to the vibrant culture and history of Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay), a city that pulsates with creativity and storytelling. The vision for the new brand was to embody the city’s spirit – a place where ideas, adventures, and cultures converge

  • The Bombay Circle: This symbolizes the core name from where the publication house is rooted while the circle means the complete storytelling journey, from an idea to a book in the hands of the readers.
  • Press: Reinforcing the brand’s core service as a full-fledged publishing house.

The New Identity

The Bombay Circle Press positions itself as an inclusive publishing house, offering services for authors from diverse backgrounds. It is not just a publishing house but a community of storytellers and readers, creating experiences that turn words into adventures, dreams, and emotions.

We assisted the founders in creating a detailed business structure, communication strategy, a functional website and branding. 

Launch & Results

To introduce this new identity, we organized a one-of-kind launch event that embodied the brand’s essence. The event was a resounding success, attended by influential authors, distributors, and influencers, generating significant buzz.

The rebranding also:

  • Sparked social media engagement, elevating the brand’s online presence.
  • Attracted new partnerships with key industry stakeholders.
  • Online press releases/features speaking about the event & the new brand identity

Ongoing Work

We are now focused on expanding their digital footprint through Instagram and building a thriving author community under The Bombay Circle Press umbrella.
